What’s special about this course?

See in practice how to deal with all the unseen parts of the role (the bits the NPQ doesn’t prepare you for!) and practise alongside others in the same boat. Supported by a new network of peers, you’ll experience the day-to-day reality of stepping up to SLT and leave feeling more in control of what’s now on your plate.

Thursday 10 October
4pm to 5.30pm, on Zoom

With Jodie Cousins

Assistant headship: your first years

  • Get to grips with what being on the SLT really means and your specific role in it

  • Experience a day in the life of an assistant head and learn to manage those unseen tasks that you didn’t expect to land on your desk

  • Sharpen your time management skills – how to delegate, prioritise and avoid overwhelm when everything is urgent

Your expert course trainer

Jodie Cousins is a trust assistant headteacher and phonics lead.

A former international swimmer, she transitioned into primary education as a volunteer and progressed to SEND and class teaching assistant roles, then class teacher roles and on into leadership. Her leadership experience includes subject leadership as well as Key Stage and early years phase leadership – and now assistant headship at trust level.

Jodie is particularly focused on using her breadth of experience to enhance outcomes for both staff and pupils.
